I ♥ You Goodwill

I have a love/hate relationship with Goodwill. But this week it was mostly love. Our relationship is usually on good terms. Depending on the guy in the back pricing the goods.

One of my biggest frustrations is when they tag their new Target merchandise higher than Target’s RED sticker clearance price which can clearly be seen next to theirs. I guess it’s a mental thing with me. Even if it is still a good deal, just knowing that I could have gotten it cheaper bugs the heck outta me! I try to keep in mind that I’m here for charity. ::ahem::

Anywho!  Here are some of my GW finds:

New Fieldcrest Duvet $19.99. I stood in the store for a good 15 minutes trying to decide whether or not to get this. Considering Target sells this exact same one for $100, I’d say it was a good deal. Hope I can find pillows to match! (Yes, I know, it’s wrinkled.  I was just so excited to show you guys!)

Rustic wooden tray $1.99. …maybe put some chunky white candles in it? Any other ideas?

Medium size apothecary jar $1.99.

Small apothecary jar 99¢ and small drinking glass 49¢. (Feeling the love Mr. Goodwill Sticker Man!!)

Vintage Columbia Family scales $3.99. (LOVE this!)

…And I saved the best for last, cause he’s such a cutie pa-tootie!

We found these brand spanking new navy blue Converse shoes for $2.99! Woo hoo! Any mom can appreciate a cheap pair of new shoes, and it doesn’t hurt to be stylish either. ;)

Soooo.....have you found any thrifty deals lately? Do you luuuuv your Goodwill? Do you slam on the brakes every time you drive by a Goodwill?  I’d love to here about it!

We are working on finishing our master bathroom. Just a few more annoying  little projects and we will FINALLY be done! Can’t wait to show you what we’ve done!
Have a great week everybody!

P.S. If you haven’t already done so, please “follow me”. I promise it won’t hurt….much. ;)

  1. Angie...
I'm glad you wrote this and I'm laughing to myself as I comment...because I can totally relate! When I'm there if the price is over $3, its like the BIGGEST decision of the day...my daughter is like 'Make up your mind already!'
Looks like you found some fabulous finds.
As for the tray...maybe a distressed white color and decoupage the bottom of the interior with some paper to match your duvet. Whatever you do, i'm sure it will look great!

  2. Jill,

So glad I'm not the only one!! I stress over just about everything. Drives my family nuts! What can I say, I'm a saver not a spender. :D

    Thanks for the input!

  3. I'm following you back! I really like your blog! I need to learn to be thrifty again. This will be good for me. I do all my shopping online. I live in the middle of nowhere. The nearest Target is 2 hours away, I have no idea where the nearest Goodwill would be. Can you imagine? We do have thrift stores, but not very good ones. :( I miss living in the city. Anyway. I love all your projects I've seen so far!

  7. I have the same love/hate relationship with my Goodwill. Seeing the prices higher than clearance prices really get to me too. I have started a new rule (that I only break occasionally..hehehe) that I only buy the sticker color that is half-price that day. It helps me focus a bit more and my kids love to help me hunt for "only green stickers today"
    I LOVE the duvet....and the shoes...too cute!

  10. I love each of your GW finds, and yes I love those sneaks for the boy! I agree sometimes the prices are ridiculous! I've also seen price tags from the store, lower than the GW price. It might not be a bad idea for us to bring it to the attention of the cashier and ask for a better deal - bet they would! I found you at Sugar Bee Crafts and "followed" your blog :)

I've actually tried getting them to lower the price on things (like things that are broken/falling apart) and they don't like to budge. They told me it's company policy. :P

    Thanks for stopping by!

  15. I ♥ Goodwill - most of the time. That price that's higher than the Target clearance sticker irks me, too, which generally results in my not buying it :)

Good deals - Hope you find some pillows!

  17. I am totally with you on the Target pricing lower than, and right next to the Goodwill price. Come on! But when Goodwill is good, it is really good. I am excited because this Saturday is the first Saturday of the month and they are now doing 50% off the entire store every first Saturday. Sweet. Thanks for linking up to Thrifty Thursday! Blessings...

  20. Love the duvet cover! Our Goodwill has different people pricing for sure. The prices tend to be all over the place--mostly good though. (We don't have 50% off days which is unfortunate.)

  21. I love GW too but the thing that irks me is when they have something that I know came from Dollar Tree priced at $1.99 or higher.
